Aloe Vera is one of those good-for-everything ingredients, and the fact it’s nicknamed the “plant of immortality” no doubt tells you everything you need to about its existence. It’s an ingredient that’s been around for centuries, in fact it’s believed to date all the way back to ancient Egyptian times.
We source our aloe vera in Mexico, in the Campeche state.

Since 2019, our solidarity sourcing project on aloe vera in Campeche, Mexico, has enabled us to work towards biodiversity and environmental preservation while introducing aloe organic cultivation among smallholders’ communities. We train and empower women to be leaders of the project.

Aloe vera is most widely known (and loved and celebrated) for its hydrating and repairing properties, as well as its unparalleled ability to soothe skin. Found in several products across Garnier’s much-loved hair, skin, and body ranges, such as the SkinActive BB Cream with HA + Aloe Vera, it is one of our hero ingredients because it is rich in water and contains a combination of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

When used in hair care, aloe vera helps nourish and moisturise. The Fructis Hydra Purifying Shampoo and Conditioner hydrates for healthy hair with no weighdown while purifying the fiber. In face and skin care products such as the SkinActive Hyaluronic Aloe Cream or the Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Aloe Jelly, it acts as hydrating ingredient that can help treat dryness, while also being suitable for use on even sensitive skin types.
Aloe vera’s thick, translucent, almost-gel-like pulp found in the leaves is considered one of nature’s most wonderous and incredible ingredients. And it’s that gel that’s packed full of water and incredible vitamins, minerals and amino acids – but more on that later.
It is said that aloe vera can help reduce alopecia by promoting hair growth. However, there is no strong scientific evidence demonstrating that aloe vera alone supports this benefit.
As well as being suitable to use in its raw form (yes – if you have an aloe vera plant at home you can cut its leaves open and apply the sticky gel-like substance found inside of them on skin and in hair), we have formulated it into a few different products to help make your life easier – and much less messy!

It can also be used on all skin types.
